Common short-term effects
Bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, itching, firmness, or temporary unevenness can occur. Less common concerns include infection, allergic reaction, migration, persistent lumps, or tissue injury.
Uncommon but serious complications
Unintentional injection into a blood vessel can block blood flow and cause tissue damage, vision loss, or stroke. These complications are uncommon but can be permanent.
Seek immediate medical attention for urgent warning signs
During or shortly after filler injection, seek immediate medical attention for unusual or severe pain, vision changes, white, gray, or blue skin near the injection site, or signs of stroke such as sudden difficulty speaking, facial drooping, weakness or numbness, trouble walking, severe headache, dizziness, or confusion. Call 911 for stroke symptoms, trouble breathing, or a severe allergic reaction.
For non-emergency concerns such as increasing redness, warmth, drainage, fever, a new lump, worsening swelling, or an unexpected change, contact us promptly. Do not try to dissolve, puncture, massage, or correct filler yourself.
